Here's a tip for anyone out there who's on their first wing as I am.

On the near side of your 1500 wing, behind the front side cover you will find two tubes, some tubes have plugs in the end of them and some do not. It's not that important if there are no plugs in the ends of the tubes, these plugs just stop drips of overfill fuel and water from dropping onto your very clean garage floor, (some people I know have these very clean floors).

If however you do have these plugs inserted into the ends of these tubes, they are probably held in place by sprung clips. At least once a month undo the clips and remove the plugs, nothing will drip from the fuel over fill tube, but you may get water out of the other tube. This is good and should be allowed to drain off.

If you do not drain this water off as I found to my cost, the bike will missfire and run as rough as a Badger's what not! The water which is a build up of moisture from your air intake will back up in the tube until it gets to a level that is then taken in with your fuel through the carbureter and causes missfires etc. If like me you allow it to get to that stage, don't worry to much but you will have to run the engine long enough to allow all the moisture to work its way through the system, the engine will eventually run this through and out of the exhausts, and certainly in my case the engine is once again running smoothly. I will make sure that in future I do drain this tube once a month.
