Exceptional GoldWings Graham Whitaker’s Custom GL1100

This Custom Goldwing is unique as well as exceptional in terms of finish and presentation because its owner, Graham Whittaker, designed and constructed it himself to create a radically modified bike; it’s fundamentally still a GL1100 but this is no ordinary GL1100. Scarborough Light Parade

The weather was extremely good to us it shone the hole week end with 300 to 400 goldwings there, a good time was had by all. During the Light Parade hundreds of spectators came out to see the bike all lit up, what a marvelous sight to see. Many bikes went round the rout two or three time I had a great time with all my friends. Sadly there was a disaster for one poor biker from Border Wings whose bike caught fire due to a fuel leek We were about 20meters from the fire as it shot up more that 3 or 4 meters. Cars started to turn and bump over the kerb in the centre of the road and thankfully no one was hurt and the fire engine where there in minuets and put out the fire.

The 29th British Treffen Kelso

Well we arrived on Thursday afternoon got our tents up and it stayed dry all day. We decided to have fish suppers for evening meal, but because Ron L said he had a gammy knee we took the bikes into Kelso.
When we returned we all settled down under the shelter of the two gazebos, which were fastened together. Carl and Brenda produced a gas heater and Carl nearly blew it up. We sat around for the evening with Carl telling jokes and we all got a little tipsy.
Carl and I decided to go to the disco when all others were flagging and needing their beds, so off we went, but I will not mention anything about Carl’s lamp so please don’t ask him whatever you do!
We met some of the guys from Scotiawings when we got into the hall and had a great time with them, please don’t mention Carl’s lamp to them either.

Friday! (Oh and by the way I do remember the first day contrary to what others say). Oh yes Friday was spent quietly in and around Kelso and the camp site, food was eaten and a small libation was partaken of before we all made our way to watch the Light parade which made it’s way out of the campsite and through Kelso. Billy West as Freddie Mercury was appearing in the main hall and we all had a great night there before turning in for the evening. The theme of the evening was Christmas; I’ve never seen so many dodgy Santa’s in one place before especially in August.

Saturday! Most of the day was spent at the trade hall and other stalls; I bought a leather waistcoat with fringes on and an Indian headdress to enable me to dance to YMCA at the nights disco. (Only joking about the fringes and headdress) We all joined in the Parade of nations, flags flying. Kelso was mobbed people everywhere waving at us they do like the Goldwings.
The entertainment was Abba Revival they got everyone dancing until the bar closed at 1am. By the way folk were falling over the tent ropes I think everyone enjoyed the day.

Sunday was the day that some of us workers had to get off home, the weather was sunny and dry ideal for striking camp. Plenty still going on during the day and quite a few people stayed on for the whole day not going home until the Monday.

Can I just mention in conclusion that it was a great pleasure to meet up again with Misfits from far and wide and look forward to the next time we all get together?
Just remember there is no region just good friends!
