Exceptional GoldWings Graham Whitaker’s Custom GL1100

This Custom Goldwing is unique as well as exceptional in terms of finish and presentation because its owner, Graham Whittaker, designed and constructed it himself to create a radically modified bike; it’s fundamentally still a GL1100 but this is no ordinary GL1100. St Andrews Fun Day (5)

 St Andrews Fun Day

A .M. on Saturday 7th November 2009, saw Ron, Tom and Iain on their trusty Goldwings making their way to a roadside caravan on the outskirts of Kirkcaldy where they met up with Carl. After bacon rolls and a hot drink, members of the Scotia Wings arrived and after warm welcomes we made our way in convoy to St Andrews.

The purpose of the run out was a static display outside the premises of the Cancer charity shop in South Street St Andrews from noon till 3p.m. with the respective riders handling the collecting cans in aid of the charity. While the wingers got on with the collecting Puppeteers Tim and Aileen from a Harley Davidson chapter set up their platform for their show with numerous puppets including skeletons, pensioner types and a young lady puppet all boogying to various pop tunes supplied by our puppeteers. Passers-bye adult and children alike enjoyed the show and all proceeds went to the charity.

St Andrews

While all donors were offered  a sweet by the goldwingers one was heard to  say to a donor that she could have  a false eye, false teeth or a moustache then to quickly follow this up with oh no Mrs. You don’t need  any you’ve already got them all of which was taken in good part. The banter was nonstop and all taken in fun.

Tea and coffee was supplied by Elizabeth the manager of the charity shop. Hopefully all the effort was worth while and the charity benefitted to the sum of many pounds.

After cheerio’s we headed home the scenic route to Edinburgh. The day finished with Ron. Tom Carl and Iain all with their better halves enjoying an evening out at a local restaurant. It had been a good day with good friends, good food, fantastic evening.
